Automation

BetterTicket's automation settings let you configure how the bot reacts to specific ticket events automatically — without you needing to manually intervene. These settings are configured per panel.

Missing User Check

When a ticket opener leaves your Discord server, their ticket becomes an orphaned channel — no one to respond to it and staff time is wasted keeping it open. The Missing User Check automatically closes a ticket when the opener is no longer in the server.

How to Enable

  1. 1
Open the panel settings and navigate to the Automation section.
  2. 2
    Toggle Missing User Check on.
  3. 3
    Save your panel.

When BetterTicket detects the ticket opener has left the server, it will automatically close the ticket. The standard close flow applies — the Closed Message is posted, and the Moderator Message with Re-Open / Delete buttons is sent to your staff.

Tip: This feature works by checking when a member leaves the server. It does not run on a timer — the ticket is closed at the moment the member departs, not retroactively.

Send DM When Ticket Closed Premium

When this toggle is on, BetterTicket automatically sends the Closed DM message to the ticket opener every time one of their tickets is closed. This is a great way to let customers know their issue was resolved and invite them to reach out again if needed.

How to Enable

  1. 1
Open the panel settings and navigate to the Automation section.
  2. 2
Toggle Send DM when ticket closed on.
  3. 3
    Save your panel.

To customize the content of the DM, go to Messages → Closed DM in your panel settings.

Note: If the user has DMs disabled from server members, the message cannot be delivered. This will not cause an error — it will silently fail for that user.

Send DM When Ticket Created Premium

When this toggle is on, BetterTicket automatically sends the Created DM message to the ticket opener the moment they open a new ticket. Use it to confirm their ticket was received, share the channel link, or set expectations for response time.

How to Enable

  1. 1
Open the panel settings and navigate to the Automation section.
  2. 2
Toggle Send DM when ticket created on.
  3. 3
    Save your panel.

To customize the content of the DM, go to Messages → Created DM in your panel settings.
