Logging
Logging lets you send an automatic record of key ticket events to a private staff channel. Every time a ticket is created, closed, renamed, or deleted, BetterTicket can post a log entry so you have a clear audit trail of all activity.
Enabling Logging
- 1Open the panel you want to enable logging for.
- 2Navigate to the Logging section in the panel settings.
- 3Toggle Enable Logging on.
- 4Enter the Log Channel ID of the private staff channel you want logs sent to.
- 5Save your panel.
Tip: Use a private channel that only your staff and admins can see. To get a channel ID in Discord, enable Developer Mode (User Settings → Advanced → Developer Mode), then right-click the channel and select Copy Channel ID.
Log Channel
All log events from this panel will be posted to the channel you specify. BetterTicket must have permission to Send Messages and Embed Links in that channel. You can set the same log channel across multiple panels to consolidate all logs in one place.
Log Events
BetterTicket logs the following six ticket events. Each appears as an embed in your log channel with relevant details.
| Event | When it fires | What's included in the log |
|---|---|---|
| Ticket Created | A new ticket channel (or thread) is created | Ticket channel name, ticket opener (name + ID), panel name, timestamp |
| Ticket Closed | A ticket is closed (via button or command) | Ticket channel name, who closed it, ticket opener, close reason (if provided), timestamp |
| Ticket Opened | A previously closed ticket is re-opened | Ticket channel name, who re-opened it, ticket opener, timestamp |
| Ticket Renamed | A ticket channel is renamed (e.g. via claiming or manual rename) | Old channel name, new channel name, who triggered the rename, timestamp |
| Ticket Deleted | A ticket channel is permanently deleted | Ticket channel name, who deleted it, ticket opener, timestamp |
| Transcript Saved | A transcript is generated for a ticket | Ticket channel name, ticket opener, who triggered it (or "Auto" if auto-save), transcript link, timestamp |
Tip: Logging is configured per panel, so you can have different log channels for different panels — for example, one log channel for your sales panel and another for your support panel.
