Thread-Style Tickets Premium
Thread-Style mode creates each ticket as a private thread inside a designated parent channel, instead of creating a new channel. This keeps your server's channel list clean while still giving each ticket its own private conversation space.
How Thread-Style Works
When a user clicks the Create Ticket button on a thread-style panel:
- 1BetterTicket creates a private thread inside the configured parent channel.
- 2The ticket opener is automatically added to the thread.
- 3If Auto-Add Team is enabled, your support team members are added as well.
- 4The Ticket Message is posted inside the thread.
From the user's perspective, a new thread appears in the parent channel's thread list with only them and the support team in it.
Requirements
Thread-Style tickets require both a Discord server boost level and specific bot permissions. Make sure these are in place before enabling:
Discord Server Requirement
- Your server must be at Boost Level 2 or higher to use private threads.
BetterTicket Bot Permissions
BetterTicket must have the following permissions in the parent channel (or globally):
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| Create Private Threads | Required to create private threads for each ticket. |
| Send Messages in Threads | Required to post the Ticket Message inside the thread. |
| Manage Threads | Required to add members to the thread and archive/delete it. |
Note: If your server is below Boost Level 2, thread-style panels will not work. The Create Ticket button will either fail silently or return an error. Check your server's boost level before enabling this feature.
Configuration
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Enable Thread Style | Toggle on to switch this panel from channel-style to thread-style ticket creation. |
| Parent Channel | The Discord channel under which all ticket threads will be created. Choose a dedicated channel (e.g. #tickets). |
| Auto-Add Team | When enabled, all members of your support team roles are automatically added to each new thread when it's created. |
| Non-Mod Invites | When enabled, the ticket opener can invite other users to the thread themselves. Useful for group support or if a customer needs to add a colleague. |
Differences from Channel-Style Tickets
| Feature | Channel-Style | Thread-Style |
|---|---|---|
| Location | New channel in a category | Thread inside a parent channel |
| Visibility | Only visible to permitted roles | Private thread — only visible to added members |
| Server boost required | No | Yes (Level 2+) |
| Channel name template | Supported | Supported (becomes the thread name) |
| Closed/open category | Supported | Not applicable (threads can be archived) |
| Claiming | Supported | Supported |
| Forms | Supported | Supported |
Limitations
- Threads cannot be moved to a category like channels can. The Closed Category setting does not apply.
- All ticket threads live under the same parent channel. Make sure that channel is accessible to BetterTicket.
- Discord limits private threads to servers at Boost Level 2 or higher. This cannot be worked around.
- Archived (closed) threads may still appear in the parent channel's thread list until manually deleted.
